Presidential grant launched in Uzbekistan for young people

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A Presidential Resolution "On measures to further support talented youth who entered the higher educational institutions of the Republic" was adopted.

According to the resolution, from the 2021/2022 academic year, a grant from the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan was introduced for 200 young people who scored the highest scores in entrance exams (test tests, professional (creative) exam, written exam) in full-time undergraduate studies at a state university.

The distribution of the quota for the Presidential grant by field of education is approved annually by the state commission for admission to educational institutions.

The last applicant in the Presidential Grant quota for a specific field of education and all citizens who score the same will be eligible for the Presidential Grant.

Points awarded to the points of applicants in the preferential category in the form of additional points for admission to higher educational institutions are not taken into account when determining candidates for the Presidential grant.

Applicants for the Presidential Grant are accepted on the basis of a government grant.

The winners of the Presidential Grant will be determined on a competitive basis from among the applicants for this grant, who in the first year studied all subjects with excellent marks, achieved success in the spiritual, educational and research spheres.

The winning students are awarded a Presidential State Scholarship based on the results of the competition.

At the same time, the stipend established for the President’s grant is paid monthly from the beginning of the second-year academic year. In this regard, the scholarship awarded on general terms is not paid.

At the end of the academic semester, if there is no “excellent” grade in at least one subject, the holders of the President’s grant will receive a general scholarship for the next academic semester.

At the end of the next academic semester, the scholarship established for the President’s grant will be re-appointed if the academic performance is “excellent” in all subjects.

Students who have continuously received the Presidential grant before graduation are admitted to the master’s program on the basis of an additional state grant without entrance exams in the specialty corresponding to the direction of bachelor’s education.
