President Visits High-Tech Cardiology Center in Shakhrisabz
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited a multidisciplinary cardiology center in the city of Shakhrisabz, where he familiarized himself with the conditions for providing high-tech medical care to the population.
Healthcare remains a top priority of Uzbekistan’s social policy. The country continues to implement reforms in the sector, including the modernization of public medical institutions, attraction of private investment, and expansion of non-state sector participation. In Kashkadarya region alone, there are currently more than 700 private clinics offering 72 types of medical services.
A shining example of this progress is the recently opened Ok Saroy Cardiology Center, established in partnership with a Russian investor. The facility is equipped with four operating rooms, six intensive care units, and more than 100 hospital beds. The center is capable of performing up to four heart surgeries simultaneously and up to 25 procedures per day. Highly qualified specialists from Russia, Türkiye, and Kuwait have been brought in to provide treatment. The center successfully performs complex procedures such as stenting, coronary artery bypass grafting, correction of congenital heart defects, and endoprosthetics.
Of particular importance to the healthcare system is the center’s diagnostic capacity. It houses a unique echocardiography machine integrated with artificial intelligence — the only one of its kind in the country.
The President noted that the operations of such innovative medical facilities are reshaping perceptions of healthcare quality, setting new standards, and serving as a catalyst for the transformation of other clinics.
“We must adopt this model and implement it in at least 14 regions of the country. It doesn't matter how much it costs — the funds will be found. The priority is to ensure high-quality, accessible, and effective medical care for our people. Without competition, there is no progress,” emphasized Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
The President instructed relevant officials to develop a plan for scaling this model, linking such clinics with the system of primary healthcare and medical insurance mechanisms.
The cardiology center has created 130 new jobs. It also includes a clinical residency program, enabling the training of qualified specialists on-site. Special attention is being paid to improving the education and training of students and doctors, including through the use of telemedicine and partnerships with foreign institutions.
The President also addressed the pressing issue of the high prevalence of cardiovascular diseases in the region, largely driven by poor dietary habits. The new cardiology center and its diagnostic unit play a key role in the early detection and treatment of such conditions.
To reach remote areas, the clinic operates mobile diagnostic units, which travel to rural locations and offer services such as ultrasound, CT scans, ECGs, and other examinations — a crucial resource for residents of underserved communities.
