Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The number of ministries and departments will be reduced to 28, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.
“The number of ministries and departments will be reduced from the current 61 to 28. The functions of ministries and committees, agencies and inspections, the terms of reference of each of them will be clearly defined,” the head of state said.
“During the reform, many ministers will be replaced. Only those who deeply know their field, selfless, who have achieved the support of the people will remain in their posts. I think this approach is fair,” the head of state said.
“A system will be introduced in which ministers, using their constitutional status, will work directly with the Prime Minister. That is, draft government resolutions, important socio-economic issues relating to the life of the country, will be decided collectively, with the direct participation of the ministers,” the President noted.
According to him, the number of civil servants will be reduced by 25-30%.
The President said that admission to public positions will be carried out exclusively on a competitive basis.
The work of all managers will be evaluated against the most important performance indicators, he added.
