Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Law "On drinking water supply and wastewater disposal" was signed by the President of Uzbekistan.

In accordance with the Law, the provision of consumers with drinking water of the established quality is guaranteed.

The Ministry of Housing and Communal Services is a specially authorized state body in the field of drinking water supply and wastewater disposal.

Organizations of any organizational and legal forms can operate as a drinking water supply organization.

Drinking water supply organizations are responsible for causing material and moral damage to life, health and property of the consumer.

Consumers have the right to demand, in accordance with the terms of the contract, the uninterrupted and safe provision of drinking water supply and wastewater disposal services, as well as the provision of drinking water in a quality and quantity that does not threaten life, health and property.

According to the level of water supply, drinking water facilities are divided into the following categories:

I category - the number of people served is more than 50 thousand;

II category - the number of people served from 5 to 50 thousand;

ІІІ category – number of served population up to 5 thousand.

Drinking water must be safe in epidemiological, radiation and chemical terms.

Analysis of the quality of drinking water is carried out in the laboratories of drinking water supply organizations.

Drinking water is supplied by transport in the following cases:

to areas where there are no drinking water supply networks;

in case of accidents in drinking pipes and other structures of drinking water supply networks;

when carrying out repair and restoration work on drinking water supply networks;

in emergency situations.

Payment for services for drinking water supply and wastewater disposal is approved by the regional Kengash of people's deputies and comes into force 15 days after publication in the media. 

The law enters into force three months after its official publication.
