President signs amendments to Constitution of Uzbekistan
Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan passed the law on 17 March 2017 and Senate approved it on 28 March 2017.
The law introduces changes and amendments to the articles of 80, 81, 83, 93, 107, 110, 111, 112 of the Constitution of Uzbekistan.
In line with amendments, Supreme Court of Uzbekistan is created on the base of Supreme Economic Court and Supreme Court. New Supreme Court will be the highest judicial body in the sphere of civil, criminal, administrative and economic legal proceedings.
The amendments also create economic and administrative courts in judicial system.
The law envisages creation of Higher Judicial Council, which will appoints judges of the court with agreement of the Uzbek President. The Council will be independent judicial body.
