President Reviews Uzbekistan’s Priorities for Digital Technologies and Startup Ecosystem Development for 2026
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed a presentation highlighting the achievements in digital technologies and the priority tasks for 2026.
The presentation emphasized that in recent years Uzbekistan has consistently implemented measures to develop the digital economy, digitalize public services, and build an innovative ecosystem.
According to international experts, between 2024 and 2025, the total value of the country’s startup and venture ecosystem reached US$3.9 billion. The number of domestic startups exceeded 750, while 15 active venture funds managed a combined venture capital exceeding US$180 million. Uzbekistan has been recognized as the world’s second fastest-growing startup ecosystem and the leader in Central Asia.
Under the strategic plan through 2030, the country aims to increase the number of startups to 5,000, expand the external market presence of startups to 200 projects, and raise venture investment volume to US$2 billion. To achieve this, a four-stage support system has been implemented—covering idea development, product development, launch, and scaling—offering grants, tax incentives, co-financing mechanisms, and export cost compensation.
Special attention is being given to the development of electronic public services. Plans include increasing the number of digital services to 900, enhancing the MyGov.uz mobile application, integrating artificial intelligence into over 50 services, creating a Unified Population Register, and fully digitalizing processes such as business registration, record-keeping for individual entrepreneurs’ employees, bank card issuance, SIM card registration, insurance, and advertising services.
The progress in building infrastructure for artificial intelligence technologies was also presented. A modern small supercomputer has been commissioned, with work underway to acquire and launch a large supercomputer. AI laboratories will be established in 15 higher education institutions, enhancing specialists’ skills and expanding opportunities for the development and implementation of domestic AI solutions.
The need to expand modern data center networks across the regions, ensuring data security and continuity of storage and processing, was noted. Attention was also given to improving telecommunications infrastructure: internet speed and coverage are growing annually, and mobile network quality is improving. In 2026, further implementation of 5G technology, expansion of high-speed internet coverage in settlements, and broader use of satellite communications are planned.
President Mirziyoyev emphasized that digital technologies directly impact the competitiveness of economic sectors, the efficiency of public administration, and the quality of life of citizens, and he instructed responsible officials to ensure timely and effective implementation of the outlined tasks.
