President Reviews Progress on Reconstruction of Tashkent-East Airport

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 18 June, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the construction site of the Tashkent-East Airport and reviewed the current phase of the project’s implementation.

As Uzbekistan’s national economy grows rapidly and the country’s international appeal rises, foreign economic ties are expanding swiftly, along with increasing volumes of investment and business engagement. In this context, the comprehensive modernization of transport infrastructure has become one of the key priorities of government policy, serving as a vital foundation for sustainable development.

The reconstruction of Tashkent-East Airport is one such strategically important initiative. The project aims to establish a modern aviation hub capable of providing high-speed, safe, and comfortable service for both domestic and international flights, while also easing the load on the capital’s main airport.

During the first phase of the project, a complete reconstruction of the 4-kilometer runway has been completed. This will allow the airport to accommodate all types of aircraft, including large-capacity models.

Construction is currently underway on two terminals — one designated for official foreign delegations and the other for business aviation. Work also continues on building the apron and aircraft hangars. The airport will be equipped with state-of-the-art radio navigation and meteorological systems, compliant with Category III-A standards of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), ensuring stable operations in all weather conditions, including fog and precipitation.

The hangars will be equipped to provide proper conditions for aircraft maintenance and storage in full accordance with international safety regulations.

Thanks to its favorable geographic location, Tashkent-East is set to become a key logistical link between the capital and the newly constructed city of New Tashkent. It will also unlock new potential for the region’s tourism development. Conditions for welcoming foreign partners and investors will improve significantly, serving as a catalyst for increased business activity, expanded service offerings, the creation of new jobs, and an overall boost to the country’s investment appeal.

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev thoroughly reviewed the architectural concept of the terminals, examined the design and engineering solutions, and issued specific instructions aimed at accelerating construction and ensuring a high standard of service at the future airport.
