President reviews plans for Tashkent metro expansion to the TTZ district

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — President Shavkat Mirziyoyev was presented with information regarding the plans for further development of the Tashkent Metro system.

The metro plays a key role in the capital’s public transportation network and continues to expand actively with the aim of enhancing comfort and convenience for city residents.

In recent years, new sections have been opened: the Yunusabad line was extended to the Turkiston station, and the Chilanzar line to the Sergeli district. At the initiative of the head of state, an above-ground ring metro line was also introduced in Tashkent, connecting stations from Dustlik to Sergeli.

These routes have linked the Yunusabad, Yashnabad, Bektemir, Mirabad, Sergeli, and Yangihayot districts, significantly improving transport accessibility and daily commutes for citizens.

The new development phase envisions extending the metro line to the Tashkent Tractor Plant (TTZ) district. By the President’s directive, the project was optimized for cost-effectiveness and operational convenience.

According to the proposal, implementation will proceed in two stages. The first stage involves constructing an above-ground section from Pushkin station on the Chilanzar line to the Feruza area in the Mirzo-Ulugbek district, running parallel to existing railway tracks. The second stage will extend the line to the bus station in the TTZ district.

Data indicates that approximately 47,000 vehicles carrying around 194,000 passengers enter the city center daily from this direction. The new metro line is expected to serve up to 85,000 passengers per day.

During the presentation, the project’s technical specifications, implementation phases, and practical significance in enhancing the city’s transport efficiency were discussed in detail.
