President Reviews Major Infrastructure Projects in Jizzakh

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 2 December, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited Jizzakh region on a working trip to review key infrastructure projects and facilities being implemented in the area.

At the start of his visit, the head of state inspected a new overpass and highway built to connect the regional center with the M-39 route. Nearly 290 billion soums have been allocated to the project. The 700-meter overpass and the 4-kilometer road are capable of handling more than 14,000 vehicles per day.

The new highway has reduced travel distance for residents from the previous 25 kilometers to 4 kilometers and eliminated traffic congestion on the old section. The metal-structured overpass is designed for a 100-year lifespan — twice that of similar reinforced concrete structures. It also allows uninterrupted traffic flow during train passage, speeding up special transport operations and improving logistics.

President Mirziyoyev was briefed on atomic energy projects in the region. Construction of an integrated nuclear power plant is underway, which will include two small and two large reactors. Work has already begun on excavating foundations and preparing the construction site. A temporary residential complex has been built for personnel.

Plans include local production of construction materials needed for the plant and expanding specialist training in universities. A concept for a “monocity” for future plant personnel was presented, designed to accommodate 10,000 residents and located 16 kilometers from the construction site.

The President also reviewed the master plan for the renovation of Jizzakh’s entrance area. The program provides for replacing outdated housing with modern buildings, constructing an IT center, a crafts center, and renovating urban spaces.

“Our visit to Jizzakh aims to identify new growth points for the region and ensure their implementation. The region’s potential has increased manifold, and it is important to direct these opportunities toward projects that improve the population’s well-being,” Mirziyoyev stated.

Following the visit, specific instructions were given to the responsible agencies.
