President proposes to rename Babur Park to Friendship Garden

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev proposed to rename the Park named after Babur in Tashkent to the Friendship Garden. He also noted that building of Uzbekyengilsanoat will be handed over to the Republican International Culture Center.

Speaking at the ceremony dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the Republican International Culture Center, Uzbek leader said that some activists of the cultural centers asked him to create necessary conditions for their work.

He said that he proposes to hand over former building of Uzbekyengilsanoat to the Republican International Culture Center and rename it to the Palace of Friendship. He added that the government will allocate resources to its reconstruction.

Uzbek President also proposed to rename Park named after Babur, located near the building of Uzbekyengilsanoat, to Friendship Garden. He noted that the park is used to organize various events.

Mirziyoyev said that currently new park is constructed in Mirzo Ulugbek district of Tashkent, which will be launched in March 2017. The park will be named after Babur, he added.
