President of Uzbekistan Visits “TCT Rice” Rice Cluster in Tashkent Region

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the “TCT Rice” rice cluster in the Kuyichirchik district of Tashkent region to review the operations of the enterprise, which implements a full production cycle—from rice cultivation to deep processing.

Previously, regional rice growers worked in isolation and faced challenges, particularly during the processing stage, which limited their income. In recent years, the sector has undergone significant qualitative changes: production efficiency has increased, and modern agricultural technologies and scientific approaches have been introduced.

This year, rice was sown on 8,700 hectares in Tashkent region. To save water and increase productivity, laser leveling of fields was carried out on 3,000 hectares, saving 60 million cubic meters of water and reducing seed consumption by 522 tons.

The “TCT Rice” cluster cultivates the Iskandar, Gulistan, and Nukus rice varieties on more than 2,000 hectares. Harvesting has currently been completed on 985 hectares, with an average yield of 6.5–7 tons per hectare, and in some plots reaching 8–8.5 tons per hectare.

During the visit, the President spoke with farmers and industry veterans, who noted that the introduction of high-yield varieties and modern technologies has significantly increased labor productivity and the profitability of agricultural producers.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev emphasized the importance of science, innovation, and market principles in agriculture, highlighting the need to transition to drip irrigation and rational water use in the context of a changing climate.

Following the visit, officials were instructed to expand the cultivation of high-yield varieties, increase processing volumes, effectively implement water-saving technologies, create new jobs, and study international experience to further enhance sector productivity.
