President of Uzbekistan to Pay Official Visit to Brussels

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — At the invitation of European Council President António Costa and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev will make an official visit to Brussels on 23–24 October.

During the visit, the head of state is scheduled to hold bilateral meetings with the leaders of key European Union institutions.

The discussions will focus on current issues and the further expansion and deepening of multifaceted partnership in line with agreements reached at the Samarkand Summit in April of this year.

Priority topics include promoting concrete projects and programs for practical cooperation in trade and economic relations, investment and finance, innovation, energy, transport and communications, science and education, and other key areas.

At the conclusion of the visit, an Agreement on Enhanced Partnership and Cooperation between Uzbekistan and the European Union is expected to be signed.

In addition, the President of Uzbekistan will meet with Belgian leadership and hold talks with senior executives of leading European companies and banks to accelerate the implementation of joint projects in technology and industrial cooperation.
