Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, at the invitation of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, will pay an official visit to the Republic of Tajikistan on 10-11 June 2021.
The program of the visit envisages holding bilateral events in the city of Dushanbe - official meeting ceremonies, negotiations in a narrow format and meetings in an expanded format, an online ceremony for the opening of social facilities, and the signing of a package of bilateral documents.
It is planned to discuss topical issues of further strengthening the Uzbek-Tajik relations of friendship, good-neighborliness and strategic partnership. Particular attention will be paid to identifying new "points of growth" for multifaceted interaction and promoting specific projects for the development of practical cooperation in the long term. The leaders will also exchange views on aspects of international politics and the regional agenda.
In addition, the heads of state will take part in joint cultural events in the capital of Tajikistan, hold a meeting with representatives of the public, and visit a number of industrial facilities in Sughd region.
As a result of the events, it is planned to sign over 30 documents covering important areas of mutually beneficial cooperation between Uzbekistan and Tajikistan.
It should be especially noted that in recent years, Uzbek-Tajik relations have entered a qualitatively new stage - the level of strategic partnership, filled with specific practical content.
On the initiative and thanks to the strong political will of the leaders, pressing issues of developing ties between the two fraternal countries and peoples were resolved.
The volume of mutual trade has grown exponentially and last year exceeded US$500 million, over 200 joint ventures have been created. There is an intensive exchange in the humanitarian sphere, fruitful contacts between the regions.
In the difficult conditions of the pandemic, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan have shown solidarity and mutual assistance in overcoming the consequences of the coronavirus.
In preparation for the upcoming summit, a meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission headed by the prime ministers of the two countries, a scientific and practical conference, Days of Uzbek Cinema and other events were successfully held. On the eve of the visit, the first Interregional Forum and a meeting of the Business Council will also take place.
