President of Uzbekistan Signs Law to Streamline Mediation and Judicial Dispute Resolution
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has signed a law introducing amendments and additions to several legislative acts aimed at improving dispute resolution procedures.
The amendments are designed to ensure more efficient and timely resolution of conflicts between citizens and business entities, promote the widespread use of mediation, and reduce the burden on the judicial system.
If a mediation agreement is not executed voluntarily, the party that entered into the agreement may apply for a writ of execution to enforce it.
However, a writ of execution may be denied if the agreement contradicts the law, its terms have been altered or revoked, obligations have been fully fulfilled, or if the application is submitted more than six months after the voluntary execution period expires — except when the court deems the delay justifiable and restores the deadline.
Violations of mediation legislation or professional ethics by mediators will result in disciplinary measures, strengthening professional accountability and enhancing public trust in mediation procedures across the country.
