President of Uzbekistan Signs Charter of the Board of Peace

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 22 January, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev took part in the signing ceremony of the Charter of the Board of Peace in Davos.

The event was chaired by U.S. President Donald Trump and brought together a wide circle of global leaders, including heads of state, prime ministers, and foreign ministers from Azerbaijan, Armenia, Argentina, Bahrain, Bulgaria, Hungary, Indonesia, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Qatar, Morocco, Mongolia, Paraguay, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Türkiye, and several other countries.

The establishment of the Board of Peace reflects Uzbekistan’s foreign policy priorities, emphasizing support for peace initiatives and multilateral international cooperation. The new body is being formed as part of the implementation of the Comprehensive Plan to End the Conflict in the Gaza Sector, endorsed by a UN Security Council resolution.

The Board of Peace is intended to help reduce the risk of escalation and create favorable conditions for the economic and social recovery of the Gaza Strip. Its activities are expected to lay the foundation for a so-called “New Gaza” — with a sustainable economy, peaceful life, and prospects for the formation of a Palestinian state.

The Board includes respected and influential political leaders from various regions of the world. By signing the charter, Uzbekistan became one of the founding member states, reaffirming its commitment to actively participate in its work and contribute practically to the organization’s mandate in close cooperation with other founding states and international partners.
