President of Uzbekistan Reviews Plans to Improve the Efficiency of Uzbekneftegaz

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 30 January, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed a presentation focused on improving the operational efficiency of the joint-stock company Uzbekneftegaz.

Uzbekistan is consistently implementing measures aimed at strengthening energy security, ensuring the stable supply of energy resources to the domestic market, including natural gas, and guaranteeing uninterrupted provision for all sectors of the economy.

At the same time, the growing demand for gas from the economy and the population necessitates the identification of new reserves, increased efficiency at existing fields, and the commissioning of new wells.

Uzbekneftegaz has been tasked with fundamentally improving performance across the sector and introducing modern approaches to the extraction and processing of hydrocarbons.

In particular, in 2025 the company’s enterprises produced 25.2 billion cubic meters of natural gas, drilled 56 new wells, and carried out major repairs on 29 wells.

For 2026–2027, plans предусматривают maintaining stable gas production volumes and implementing more than 300 geological and technical measures.

The presentation also outlined priority tasks that must be accomplished to achieve the target indicators. Special emphasis was placed on increasing the effectiveness of geological exploration and geological-technical operations, expanding reserves and stabilizing production volumes, as well as improving procurement procedures.

In addition, the company plans to create a value-added chain through deep gas processing, produce import-substituting and export-oriented products, and carry out financial recovery of the company and its subsidiaries.

Particular attention was given to improving operational efficiency and ensuring financial sustainability by divesting non-core assets, discontinuing sponsorship payments, and optimizing expenditures.

Other priority areas include the digitalization of production processes and the wide application of artificial intelligence technologies, strengthening internal control and compliance systems, monitoring the movement of financial resources, as well as preventing corruption and conflicts of interest.

The President instructed responsible officials to ensure the implementation of all assigned tasks and measures based on accurate calculations, strict discipline, and personal accountability.

During the presentation, technogenic incidents arising in the course of geological exploration, particularly in Surkhandarya Region, were also discussed.

It was noted that such incidents are a natural part of complex exploration processes aimed at identifying new promising fields and occur in international practice as well. All necessary measures are being taken in the country to prevent such situations and minimize their consequences.

The President instructed to strengthen continuous monitoring in areas where geological exploration is being conducted, introduce modern monitoring technologies, and ensure public safety.
