Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 16 July, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov within the framework of the Tashkent International Conference.

It was noted that thanks to regular contacts at the highest level, multifaceted Uzbekistan – Turkmenistan relations of good-neighborliness and strategic partnership continue to steadily strengthen.

Rashid Meredov conveyed the warm greetings and wishes of the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to the President of Uzbekistan. The initiatives of the Leader of Uzbekistan on the development of regional connectivity of Central and South Asia were highly appreciated.

Issues of further enhancing the practical cooperation between the two countries were considered. The importance of holding the regular meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission was noted.

The course of preparation for the Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of the Central Asian countries to be held on August 6 this year in Avaza National Tourist Zone, was discussed.

The parties exchanged views on the current difficult situation in Afghanistan.
