Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - On 25 August, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Mahmoud Kureishi.

The head of our state noted with satisfaction the dynamic development of Uzbek-Pakistani relations of multifaceted cooperation. The high-level talks held in July this year in the city of Tashkent marked the beginning of a new stage in bilateral cooperation based on the principles of strategic partnership.

Foreign Minister Mahmoud Kureishi conveyed the greetings and best wishes of the Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan, and also expressed sincere gratitude for the active efforts of the leader of Uzbekistan to ensure stability and prosperity in the region.

During the meeting, the sides discussed issues of practical implementation of the agreements reached at the highest level.

Special attention was paid to the development of the situation in Afghanistan. The importance of continuing close interdepartmental contacts and exchanges on aspects of ensuring regional security was emphasized.

The commitment was also confirmed to further joint promotion of the project for the construction of the Termez-Mazar-i-Sharif-Kabul-Peshawar railway.
