Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy/Vice President of the European Commission Josep Borrell within the framework of the International Conference “Central and South Asia: Regional Connectivity. Challenges and Opportunities”.
Current issues of Uzbekistan – European multifaceted cooperation were discussed.
Josep Borrell conveyed greetings and best wishes of the President of the European Council Charles Michel and the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen to the President of Uzbekistan. He noted the importance and timeliness of the global initiative of the Leader of Uzbekistan on the development of connectivity of Central and South Asia.
The dynamic development of the partnership between Uzbekistan and the EU observed in recent years was noted with satisfaction. The importance of further expansion of multifaceted cooperation, primarily in the human dimension and democratic transformations, promotion of business, investment and innovation, green development, ecology, cultural exchange and other areas, was emphasized. It was noted that negotiations on an Enhanced Partnership and Cooperation Agreement between Uzbekistan and the European Union are coming to an end.
Views were exchanged on the international agenda. The main attention was paid to the issues of promoting a peaceful settlement in Afghanistan.
