President of Uzbekistan presented cars to the parents and mentor of the winners of the Zayed Sustainability Prize

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The parents and mentor of two students from the Presidential School of Tashkent, who won the "Global Middle Schools" category of the Zayed Sustainability Prize in Abu Dhabi, were presented with gifts by the President of Uzbekistan.

The gift-giving ceremony was attended by the Assistant to the President of Uzbekistan, Saida Mirziyoyeva, and Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov.

On behalf of the President of Uzbekistan, the parents and mentor of the students were presented with BYD-brand cars.

It is worth noting that the Presidential School in Tashkent was recognized as the winner of the 2025 Zayed Sustainability Prize in the "Global Schools of Europe and Central Asia" category.

The school received recognition for its innovative project addressing water scarcity, which involves the creation of a rainwater harvesting and filtration system to provide safe drinking water.

The project includes the implementation of filtration systems with Granular Activated Carbon (GAC) and green sand filters in 150 schools across Uzbekistan, with a focus on the Kashkadarya region, where access to water is limited.

The system will collect and filter rainwater, providing a sustainable solution for more than 45,000 people in the region, while promoting environmental responsibility through the creation of eco-committees in schools.

The US$150,000 prize will allow the school to implement the project, including the construction and installation of 150 filtration systems and the establishment of a network of eco-committees responsible for maintaining the systems and promoting sustainable development.

The Zayed Sustainability Prize is awarded to organizations and schools for significant and innovative solutions in areas such as healthcare, nutrition, energy, water, climate change, and global education.

Since its inception, the prize has had a positive impact on the lives of more than 407 million people worldwide, continuing the legacy of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.

Since 2013, 56 schools from various regions of the world have been awarded in the "Global Schools" category, including America, Africa, the Middle East, Europe, Central Asia, South and East Asia, and the Pacific region. These projects have impacted more than 56,599 students and 480,660 people from their communities.
