President of Uzbekistan Participates in Ceremonial Military Parade in Beijing
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 3 September, as part of an official visit, the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, took part in a ceremonial military parade at Tiananmen Square in Beijing, dedicated to the 80th anniversary of Victory in World War II.
The event was attended by heads of state and representatives from more than twenty countries, including leaders from Russia, Belarus, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Iran, Vietnam, and Egypt.
In his speech, Chinese President Xi Jinping emphasized the importance of preserving historical memory, maintaining peace, and upholding justice in today’s international context.
The parade featured 45 units of the People’s Liberation Army of China and showcased the latest models of missile systems, tanks, aircraft, and unmanned vehicles developed by China’s defense industry.
Military parades of this scale have been held in Beijing since 1949; the most recent major parade took place on October 1, 2019, with approximately 15,000 participants.
The presence of the President of Uzbekistan at the ceremonial events in China’s capital underscored the country’s consistent foreign policy, aimed at strengthening friendship and mutual understanding among peoples, as well as promoting constructive dialogue at regional and global levels in the name of peace, sustainable development, and prosperity.
