President of Uzbekistan pardons 75 people

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a decree on pardoning a group of persons serving sentences in places of deprivation of liberty who sincerely repented of their deeds and firmly embarked on the path of correction.

By the decree of the President, 75 persons serving sentences for committing crimes, who sincerely repented of their deeds and firmly embarked on the path of correction, were pardoned.

Of those pardoned, 4 persons were completely released from serving the main sentence, 53 persons were released from serving the sentence on parole, the punishment imposed on 2 persons was replaced with a milder one. In addition, the terms of punishment in the form of deprivation of liberty imposed on 16 persons were reduced.

Among those pardoned are 18 citizens of foreign states, 17 women, 15 men over 60 years old, 6 disabled people, 9 persons who participated in the activities of banned organizations.

Responsible ministries and departments were instructed to return pardoned persons to their families and loved ones, to assist them in social adaptation, attraction to useful work, choosing a healthy lifestyle and taking a worthy place in society.
