President of Uzbekistan pardons 104 citizens

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- In connection with the 28th anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a decree “On pardoning a group of persons serving a sentence of imprisonment, who sincerely repented of their deeds and firmly embarked on the path of correction”.

The decree, in accordance with paragraph 23 of Article 93 of the Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan, pardoned 104 citizens who are serving sentences for committing crimes, who sincerely repented of their deeds and firmly embarked on the path of correction.

Of those pardoned, 6 persons were completely released from serving the main sentence, 50 persons were released from serving the sentence on parole, the sentence imposed on 7 persons was replaced by a milder one. In addition, the terms of imprisonment imposed on 41 persons were reduced.

Among those pardoned are 13 citizens of foreign states, 9 men over 60 years old, 1 woman, 21 persons who participated in the activities of banned organizations.

As part of the implementation of the decree, the responsible ministries and departments were instructed to return pardoned persons to their families and loved ones, assist them in social adaptation, attract them to useful work, choose a healthy lifestyle and take a worthy place in society.
