President of Uzbekistan Orders Dissolution of Presidential Administration’s Control Inspectorate

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 14 June, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev announced the immediate dissolution of the Control Inspectorate under the Presidential Administration, citing its ineffectiveness and failure to fulfill its mandate.

Speaking at a high-level meeting, the president criticized the Inspectorate for failing to identify systemic issues or propose concrete accountability measures. “Why did this structure, instead of uncovering problems and proposing specific actions against those responsible, merely defer to ministers and echo their views?” he said.

As a result, the president ordered the Inspectorate's closure and the creation of a fundamentally new system for monitoring the implementation of presidential decisions and citizen appeals.

Oversight responsibilities will now be transferred to the Accounts Chamber, which will see a significant expansion of its powers. In addition to auditing the use of budget funds, the Chamber will evaluate the effectiveness of policy implementation and monitor public satisfaction. Its Chairman, Adiz Boboev, will report to the president monthly, identifying weak areas, ineffective officials, and underperforming systems.

The Control Inspectorate had existed since the late 1990s and was tasked with monitoring the execution of presidential decrees and directives across all levels of government and public institutions.

President Mirziyoyev also stressed that ministers and regional governors must work proactively, without waiting for top-down instructions. “The primary mission of leadership is to respond quickly to the problems of people and businesses,” he concluded.
