Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Today, on 2 February, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received the adviser to the Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Abdul Razak Davud.
During the conversation, an exchange of views took place on the prospects for the development of mutually beneficial cooperation between Uzbekistan and Pakistan.
As the head of our state noted, despite the pandemic, active contacts and exchanges continue, contributing, first of all, to the progressive expansion of practical cooperation between the two countries. The volume of trade is growing, the number of joint cooperation projects of leading companies is increasing.
Abdul Razak Davud expressed his sincere gratitude to the President of Uzbekistan for organizing the meeting and conveyed greetings and best wishes on behalf of the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan.
The adviser stressed that Pakistan highly appreciates and supports the initiative to advance the project to build a railway through the territory of Afghanistan, which will connect Central and South Asia with the shortest route, and will allow to get out and effectively use the infrastructure of Pakistani seaports.
Other topical issues of the joint economic agenda were also considered.
Agreements were reached on considering opportunities for the development of road and air freight, preparing an agreement on preferential trade, exchanging experience in the field of customs, enhancing business dialogue and holding business events.
A schedule of upcoming meetings and contacts at the highest and high levels has been agreed.
