President of Uzbekistan Meets with Euronews Chairman Pedro Vargas
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — As part of the agenda of the Tashkent International Investment Forum, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting with Pedro Vargas, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Euronews media holding.
The discussion focused on prospects for deepening cooperation with one of Europe’s leading media platforms.
Special attention was given to promoting a positive international image of Uzbekistan through Euronews’s coverage of the country’s rich cultural and historical heritage, its tourism potential, wide-ranging socio-economic reforms, and investment opportunities.
The President praised the ongoing efforts to implement joint media initiatives, including the production of television programs, documentaries, and special reports about modern Uzbekistan. He also welcomed the initiative to open a regional Euronews office in Tashkent.
Particular support was expressed for the launch of a professional training program for Uzbek journalists under the Euronews Academy platform, which is expected to contribute to the introduction of international standards in the national media environment.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides agreed to develop a joint roadmap encompassing key areas of cooperation — from media content and professional training to institutional partnership.
