President of Uzbekistan Meets Leaders of Major Saudi Companies

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received a delegation of Saudi companies led by Muhammad Abunayyan, co-chair of the Uzbek-Saudi Business Council and CEO of ACWA Power.

During the meeting, the parties discussed further expansion of practical cooperation and accelerating the implementation of priority joint projects.

The President expressed satisfaction with the dynamic development of the strategic partnership with ACWA Power, a key investor in Uzbekistan’s green energy sector. On the same day, several initiatives were launched: four wind power plants with a total capacity of 752 megawatts were connected to the grid, construction began on five power plants totaling 2.3 gigawatts, and a 300-megawatt energy storage system was initiated in Karakalpakstan and Bukhara regions.

Additionally, work commenced on a 500-kilovolt transmission line spanning 1,790 kilometers, linking Samarkand with Tashkent, as well as connecting Karakalpakstan with Bukhara.

The discussions also focused on promoting cooperative projects in modernizing energy and transport infrastructure, developing ICT, healthcare, agriculture, and other strategically important sectors.
