President of Uzbekistan Lays Foundation Stone for Second Phase of IT Park in Tashkent
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 21 October, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the IT Park in the Mirzo-Ulugbek district of Tashkent and participated in the ceremony laying the foundation stone for the second phase of the project.
The first phase of the IT Park, completed two years ago with an investment of US$200 million, covered an area of approximately four hectares. It included six office buildings ranging from 20 to 25 stories in height and a modern congress hall.
The IT Park provides a conducive environment for specialists and supports promising startups through incubation and acceleration programs. Projects in information technology, fintech, logistics, e-commerce, online education, biotechnology, and other sectors have been successfully implemented.
Currently, the IT Park hosts 3,200 resident companies employing over 14,000 specialists. Last year, the volume of services provided amounted to US$1.6 billion, and by the end of 2025, it is expected to exceed US$2.5 billion, with service exports projected to surpass US$1 billion for the first time.
According to the “Uzbekistan – 2030” Strategy, the country plans to create over 300,000 high-paying jobs in the information technology sector. Foreign experts estimate Uzbekistan’s potential in artificial intelligence at US$10 billion. President Mirziyoyev emphasized that the launch of the second phase of the project will make a significant contribution toward achieving these ambitious goals and strengthening cooperation with international investors.
During the second phase, the IT Park’s territory will expand by 1.5 times. In partnership with the Saudi company Data Volt, a 12-megawatt data center worth US$150 million will be constructed. Subsequent phases plan additional investments of US$3 billion, bringing the total data center capacity to 500 megawatts.
The IT Park will also feature six new buildings, including an Artificial Intelligence Center, a Space and Future Technologies Center, two 20-story office buildings, as well as service and commercial complexes. The development will become a modern “Artificial Intelligence Hub,” integrating advanced technologies, innovation, and knowledge.
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev placed a time capsule in the foundation of the second phase and officially launched the construction works.
