Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev expressed condolences to President Xi Jinping of the People’s Republic of China in connection with the crash of a passenger plane near the city of Wuzhou in the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region of China. This was reported by the press service of the President of Uzbekistan.
The Boeing 737 of China Eastern Airlines lost contact over Wuzhou while on a Kunming-Guangzhou flight. The plane has now been confirmed to have crashed.
It is specified that there were 123 passengers and nine crew members on board. A working group of the Civil Aviation Administration was sent to the scene of the incident.
According to the Global Times, 25 fire trucks and 117 rescuers advanced to the crashed liner, but due to the fact that the crash occurred in a mountainous area, firefighters had to get to the place on foot.
The plane crash was reported earlier on Monday by Chinese media. According to them, search and rescue operations are underway, it is known that a forest fire started at the crash site, which was later extinguished.
