President of Uzbekistan expresses condolences to Ecuadorian leader

“The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov expressed sincere condolences to the President of the Republic of Ecuador Rafael Vicente Correa Delgado due to the devastating earthquake in the northwest of the coast of a country, which caused numerous casualties and destruction,” the statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan said.

The Uzbek President conveyed sincere sympathy to the families and friends of the victims and those injured.

The earthquake hit the South American country’s northwest coast on Saturday, 16 April 2016. The death toll from Ecuador’s earthquake makes up over 400. According to official data, some 2,600 people were injured.
