President of Uzbekistan Explores Deeper Cooperation with European Business Leaders

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — As part of the Tashkent International Investment Forum and the meeting of the Foreign Investors Council, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a high-level meeting with executives from several leading European companies, including Standard Chartered, International Hospitals Group, LVMH, and Airbus.

The President emphasized that the growing presence of European delegations reflects a shared commitment to strengthening economic and investment ties. He noted with satisfaction the positive momentum in bilateral cooperation, including increased trade turnover, a growing number of joint ventures, and an expanding investment portfolio. Cultural, educational, and tourism exchanges are also flourishing.

In a discussion with Saif Malik, Head of Emerging Markets at Standard Chartered, the sides explored opportunities to finance small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), support infrastructure development, and enhance Uzbek banks’ access to international credit lines.

With Chester King, Chairman of International Hospitals Group, talks focused on plans to construct a multidisciplinary hospital and improve healthcare management through public-private partnership models. Particular attention was given to the introduction of advanced medical standards and technologies.

During negotiations with representatives of luxury giant LVMH, both sides stressed the importance of expediting the launch of a flagship store in the Tashkent City business district. Opportunities were also discussed to integrate Uzbek producers of silk, textiles, and natural ingredients into LVMH’s global supply chains.

Johann Pelissier, President of Airbus Europe, expressed strong interest in developing a long-term strategic partnership. Talks centered around joint civil aviation projects, knowledge transfer, and workforce training. Both parties agreed to fast-track the adoption of a comprehensive cooperation program.

European business leaders expressed appreciation to the President for his warm hospitality, openness to dialogue, and the favorable investment climate being cultivated in Uzbekistan. They reaffirmed their intention to expand their presence in the country and take part in transformative projects across key economic sectors.
