Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 13 May, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting with the European Union Special Representative for Central Asia, Eduards Stiprais.

At the beginning of the conversation, the guest conveyed warm greetings and best wishes on behalf of the President of the European Council, António Costa, and the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen.

The meeting focused on prospects for expanding cooperation between Uzbekistan and the European Union, both bilaterally and at the regional level, with an emphasis on the practical implementation of the agreements reached during the first “Central Asia–European Union” summit held in Samarkand in April of this year.

Special attention was given to accelerating the development and launch of specific investment and financial-technical projects totaling 12 billion euros.

The two sides also exchanged views on key issues on the regional agenda and coordinated the calendar of upcoming joint events.
