President of Uzbekistan Discusses Measures to Enhance Combat Readiness and Modernize the Armed Forces

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 3 March, under the chairmanship of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan and Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, a meeting was held to discuss strengthening the country’s defense capabilities.

During the session, participants reviewed tasks aimed at further enhancing the nation’s military potential and ensuring defense security, as well as the implementation of priority directives issued at the extended meeting of the Security Council on 13 January 2026.

The President emphasized that the world continues to experience hotspots of tension and conflict, escalating geopolitical competition, and rising risks of new threats. In an unstable international environment, where local military conflicts can have serious humanitarian and economic consequences, strengthening national defense capabilities takes on critical importance.

The Minister of Defense reported on measures being taken to improve the combat readiness of troops, conduct operational training for units and subunits, equip forces with modern weapons and military equipment, and develop infrastructure in military-administrative sectors. Special attention was given to studying the advanced practices of developed countries and combat experience, as well as implementing modern approaches in military command and training systems. The need to widely integrate new technologies, including unmanned systems and digital command solutions, was highlighted as a means to increase operational efficiency.

The meeting outlined specific tasks for modernizing the infrastructure of training grounds, military educational institutions, and logistical facilities in accordance with contemporary standards. It also tasked authorities with continuing the improvement of military personnel training, strengthening scientific research, and expanding programs for mastering advanced weaponry and technologies.

In concluding the meeting, the President set further objectives for the development of the Armed Forces and the enhancement of the country’s defense capabilities, underlining the strategic importance of these measures for ensuring national security.
