President of Uzbekistan Discusses Implementation of Priority Projects with Saudi Arabia
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 15 October, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Investment, Khalid Al-Falih, who arrived with a delegation of executives from leading Saudi companies.
At the beginning of the meeting, the high-ranking guest conveyed greetings and best wishes from King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud to the President of Uzbekistan.
During the discussions, both sides explored prospects for further expanding Uzbek-Saudi cooperation and deepening strategic partnership, including the practical implementation of previously agreed high-level arrangements.
The meeting highlighted the dynamic development of bilateral relations: contacts have intensified at all levels, trade volumes and direct investments are growing, the number of joint ventures is increasing, and air traffic between the two countries has expanded. The portfolio of joint projects has reached US$27 billion, including several major energy initiatives with ACWA Power valued at US$15 billion.
The parties also noted the positive outcomes of the latest sessions of the Intergovernmental Commission and the Business Council, held in Tashkent, which resulted in the signing of new agreements and contracts. Special attention was given to the accelerated implementation of projects in green energy, agriculture, electrical engineering, real estate, modernization of regional infrastructure, and other priority sectors.
