Today, when the working season in the agricultural sector is ending and the results of the work done are being summed up, I sincerely, from the bottom of my heart, congratulate you and, in your person, all our people on a wonderful holiday - the Day of Agricultural Workers.
On this professional holiday, I express my best wishes, first of all, to our skilled dehkans, to all workers in the industry who, with honest and selfless work, have grown a rich harvest, ensured prosperity and abundance in the country.
Even in the most difficult conditions, you remain devoted to your cause and duty, show the best qualities, working for the good of the country and people, and this is worthy of high recognition.
At present, when climate change is intensifying all over the world, various problems associated with water and land resources are aggravating, the agriculture of Uzbekistan, thanks to your perseverance and courage, great professional skills, is achieving significant results, providing abundance and affordable prices in our markets and stores. .
Dear friends!
In recent years, fundamental reforms have been carried out in our country in the agricultural sector, as in all other spheres and industries, the priority task of which is to protect the honor, dignity and interests of a person.
It should be noted that a new system for growing and purchasing cereals was introduced, dehkans are replenished with grain, prosperity in their homes is growing, in order to financially support agriculture, preferential loans were allocated through international financial institutions, expenses for growing products, irrigation, purchasing seeds and seedlings are covered by subsidies.
The boycott of Uzbek cotton has been canceled, large textile brands are returning to the cotton market of our country.
This year, in order to develop dehkan farms, the area under cotton and grain crops has been reduced by 100,000 hectares, the freed land has been distributed among the population through an open electronic auction. It is especially important that thanks to this, more than 420,000 new farms and over 1,200,000 permanent and seasonal jobs have been created.
The growing food shortage in the world, the intensifying process of desertification in our region pose urgent tasks for agricultural workers as well.
For the purposes of sustainable development of the sphere and ensuring food security, we will consistently continue the reforms we have begun in the agricultural sector. In particular, major projects will be implemented to improve water supply and modernize agricultural infrastructure.
We will strengthen measures to widely introduce market principles in cotton and grain growing, grow products on a scientific basis, and increase the interest of farmers and dehkans. Along with this, the production of agricultural machinery adapted to local conditions and affordable, its supply to farmers and dekhkans on preferential terms, the allocation of subsidies and additional financing to them will expand.
We will also focus on improving the quality and level of service, strengthening the integration of science and production in agriculture.
The positive practice we started with the aim of increasing production and employment in the countryside will be continued, over 100,000 hectares of land will be additionally transferred to the population for the organization of dekhkan farms.
Dear compatriots!
On this wonderful holiday, on behalf of all our people and on my own behalf, I express my deep gratitude to our dekhkans and farmers, managers and workers of agro-clusters, all compatriots employed in this area, who, with their selfless work, knowledge and rich experience, make a worthy contribution to the further development of agriculture countries in a new phase.
Once again I congratulate all of you on today’s holiday, I wish you health, happiness and new successes.
May you always be pleased with the results of your, my dear, noble, selfless work!
Shavkat Mirziyoyev, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan
