President of Uzbekistan and UN Secretary General visit grave of Islam Karimov

António Guterres, accompanied by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov, visited the Khazrati Khizr complex in the city of Samarkand.

UN Secretary General laid flowers to the grave of the First President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov and paid tribute to his memory.

During his visit to the grave of the First President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov, the President of Uzbekistan got acquainted with the construction work of the memorial complex.

According to the project, additional aivans, chaikhana and other infrastructure facilities are being built around the mausoleum of Khazrati Khizr based on the traditions of national architecture.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev noted that the Shrine of the First President should be a single architectural ensemble with the Khazrati Khizr Mosque. He stressed need to pay special attention to the fact that the aivans harmoniously combined with the mausoleum.

President gave his recommendations on further improving the memorial complex, creating even greater amenities for visitors. Mirziyoyev noted the need for expansion and improvement of the territory adjacent to the complex.
