President of Uzbekistan and President of the EBRD discuss the prospects for the development of full-scale cooperation

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- As part of the program of the Tashkent International Investment Forum taking place today, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received the head of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, Odile Renaud-Basso.

The practical aspects of the further active participation of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development in promoting the program of socio-economic reforms in our country were discussed.

The unprecedented high level of partnership between Uzbekistan and the EBRD achieved in recent years was noted with satisfaction. The Bank’s project portfolio in our country has reached 3 billion euros with an increase in the share of investments in the private sector up to 50 percent.

For the second year in a row, Uzbekistan has been the leader in the region in terms of capital investments of this leading financial institution.

There are branches of the EBRD in the cities of Andijan and Urgench.

EBRD President Odile Renaud-Basso sincerely congratulated on the successful holding of the Tashkent International Investment Forum and confirmed the Bank’s readiness for full support in achieving the goals of the New Uzbekistan Development Strategy.

During the meeting, an agreement was reached on the preparation of a "road map" to deepen partnerships.

Particular attention was paid to cooperation in the field of transformation and privatization of state-owned enterprises and banks, attraction of foreign direct investment, support for green development projects, energy and transport, the introduction of effective public-private partnership mechanisms, primarily in the promotion of infrastructure projects, as well as support women’s and youth entrepreneurship programs.

The course of preparations for the next year’s Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors of the EBRD in Uzbekistan was also considered.
