President of the Senate: It is necessary to develop a competitive environment among scientific organizations

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- In recent years, special attention has been paid to the development of science, which has been raised to the level of state policy. Currently, the problems that have accumulated in this area for many years are being solved and are waiting for their solution.

Thanks to the reforms carried out in this area in the Global Innovation Index, which was announced the other day, the country took 93rd place out of 131 countries, which means an increase of 29 points compared to 2015.

Along with this, there are some issues that need to be focused on in the development of the field of science.

In particular, it is necessary to develop a competitive environment among scientific organizations. Most scientific organizations have become monopolists in the field of science.

In addition, measures should be taken to consistently increase the share of the private sector in funding science. It is necessary to motivate the private sector to conduct basic research. In Japan, 90% of research is funded by the private sector. In this regard, it is advisable to study the experience of Japan.

Tanzila Narbaeva, Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
