Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- President of the Islamic Development Bank (IDB), His Excellency, Dr. Muhammad Al Jasser highly appreciated the hospitality of the people of Uzbekistan and the richness of the country’s historical heritage.
Dr. Al-Jasser stated this after a tour of historical sites in Tashkent, where he visited and talked to people at the Alay market (bazaar), the Khazrati Imam Complex and the Amir Temur Museum.
As a human-centered development institution, the IDB is focused on projects that will help lift people out of poverty, build capacity, and support the government’s national plans for the benefit of its citizens, Dr. Al Jasser said.
The IDB President arrived in Tashkent on 28 August 2021 and was received by Deputy Prime Minister Sardor Umurkzakov. He is in Tashkent to participate in the annual meetings of the IDB group 2021, from 1 to 4 September 2021. Tashkent is the first city visited by Dr. Al Jasser after taking office as IDB leader on 9 August 2021.
Dr. Al-Jasser thanked President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev for organizing the annual meeting. He also expressed gratitude to Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Sardor Umurzakov for the excellent preparation for the Annual Meeting.
Commenting on his interaction with the people of Uzbekistan, Dr. Al Jasser said: “Development is happening for the people and for the people. For the past 46 years, the IDB has focused on improving the lives of ordinary people through economically viable projects.”
“My interactions with people have further strengthened my resolve to work with the government of Uzbekistan to support the country’s vision of transforming Uzbekistan into a high- and middle-income industrialized country by 2030. The IDB pays great attention to national priorities,” - added Dr. Al Jasser.
