President of Tatarstan meets with the Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- As part of a working visit to Tashkent, President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov met with the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade Sardor Umurzakov. This was reported by the press service of the President of Tatarstan.

The President of Tatarstan thanked the host for organizing the business forum "Tatarstan-Uzbekistan", which, according to Rustam Minnikhanov, will contribute to the further development of cooperation.

“Our visit to your country is connected with the need to further strengthen the work on the development of cooperation, primarily in the field of economics. All this is aimed at strengthening relations between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Uzbekistan. The pandemic has thrown us back a little, but we must intensify contacts,” the President of Tatarstan noted.

Bilateral trade between Tatarstan and Uzbekistan in 2020 amounted to US$156.5 million. The export structure mainly consists of the supply of land vehicles, plastics and products from them, timber, rubber, rubber, oil and oil products. The main imports for the last year: plastics, textiles, garments.

In turn, Sardor Umurzakov noted that Uzbekistan is interested in further comprehensive strengthening of cooperation with Tatarstan. “Your visit is a landmark for us. Tatarstan is one of the most advanced regions of the Russian Federation in all respects,” said the Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan.
