Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A videoconference was held at the capital’s boarding school for hearing-impaired children No. 102 on improving the conditions of medical and social institutions in the country.

At the beginning of his speech, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev recalled the words of the verse from Surah Rahman of the Holy Quran: “The reward for good is only good.”

Respect for the older generation and helping those in need are qualities deeply rooted in the national consciousness of our people. Thus, during the pandemic, the nationwide movement “Kindness and Support” became widespread, the members of which helped those in need, together overcame difficulties and trials.

The exaltation of human dignity, the support of the population in need of care and support, are an important direction of the social policy of our state.

An example of the good work being done in this direction is the presidential decree of 25 March 2022, which defines measures to provide social support to the elderly and people with disabilities for the improvement of the Sakhovat and Muruvvat boarding houses. In particular, the Agency for the Development of Medical and Social Services was created, the Sakhovat and Muruvvat houses, sanatoriums and boarding houses for veterans, and a number of other medical and social institutions were transferred to its jurisdiction.

The salaries of the heads and doctors of the houses "Sakhovat", "Muruvvat", the Republican Boarding House for Veterans have been increased by 1.5 times, the salaries of junior and secondary medical workers of these institutions have been increased by 2 times.

A medical examination of 9.4 thousand elderly and persons with disabilities living in these boarding schools, as well as 18 thousand single citizens, was carried out.

Together with the Zamin Foundation, more than 2,000 hearing-impaired children were provided with digital hearing aids, and 11 specialized boarding schools were equipped with auxiliary voice devices. 900 children with disabilities are provided with prosthetic and orthopedic products, 1100 people are provided with wheelchairs.

At the meeting, the khokims reported on the results of visiting medical and social institutions in their regions, the state of affairs and the problems identified.

In particular, the need for the construction of additional buildings in 12, a hostel, a kitchen, a medical department, a gym in 7, repair of heating and cooling systems in 21 Sakhovat and Muruvvat houses was noted. In addition, 6 orphanages and 11 boarding schools for children with disabilities are in need of repair.

The President instructed the responsible persons to once again carefully study the condition of all medical and social institutions and prepare a draft government decree providing for the necessary construction and repair work in 2022-2024.

It was instructed to establish systems for a complete medical examination, rehabilitation and organization of recreation for the elderly, persons with disabilities living in such institutions.

It was emphasized that many orphanage residents are returning to their families, and 10 Mehribonlik houses, 3 children’s towns and 2 orphanages are closed as unnecessary.

- The decrease in the number of orphanages and their pupils testifies to the high spirituality and nobility of our people. But how good it would be if there were no orphans in our country at all! Therefore, it is necessary to take all possible measures for their adoption by worthy families, Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.

At the meeting, tasks were set to turn mahallas into a well-maintained and green environment, to intensify cultural and educational activities.
