President Holds Dialogue with Public Representatives of Kashkadarya
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — During his train journey from Karshi to Shakhrisabz, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a substantive and candid conversation with representatives of the Kashkadarya region’s public. The discussion focused on the sweeping transformations taking place in cities and villages, the improvement of living conditions, and the importance of peace and stability as the foundation of the country’s development.
The President reminded participants that the principle of "In the name of human honor and dignity" has become the cornerstone of Uzbekistan’s state policy. It is on this foundation that key objectives are being addressed — ensuring a decent standard of living, increasing citizens’ incomes, improving settlements, and developing social infrastructure. Particular attention is being paid to mahallas as drivers of local development and vital pillars of grassroots progress.
The head of state emphasized that the ongoing regional programs aimed at unlocking internal potential are creating real opportunities for people to find employment in their own communities. This is especially true for youth and women, who are gaining access to modern education and learning in-demand skills, thereby contributing to higher family incomes and greater social stability.
Continuing on the topic of reforms, the President highlighted that structural economic transformation is already bearing tangible fruit. The industrial sector is rapidly advancing with the establishment of modern enterprises producing high value-added goods. Alongside this, major projects are being implemented in agriculture, tourism, energy, and transportation, contributing to the country’s comprehensive and sustainable economic growth.
Transport infrastructure was also a key point of discussion. Shavkat Mirziyoyev stressed the importance of a systematic approach to road development, noting that roads play a vital role not only in the economy but also in shaping public sentiment. Over the past two years, Uzbekistan has repaired 40,000 kilometers of roads and 540 bridges. In Kashkadarya alone, 100 kilometers of major highways are scheduled to be upgraded this year. The President instructed that these projects be accelerated, with special attention paid to landscaping and beautification of the surrounding areas.
During the conversation, senior citizens expressed their appreciation for the attention given to the regions and noted that the positive changes are clearly felt in everyday life. One of the participants, a woman, shared her perspective on how the status of women is evolving. Today, women have real opportunities to grow — in professional fields, in business, and in public life. Thanks to government support, women are becoming more confident, valued, and respected both in their families and in society at large.
