President: building modern hospitals is painful and even harder to use them efficiently

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 29 May, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed the construction of a specialized multi-disciplinary hospital in Zangiata district of Tashkent region.

The coronavirus pandemic that has swept the world is a serious threat to human life. Timely measures taken in our country, high public awareness and patient observance of quarantine prevent the mass spread of infection. An important factor in this was the construction in a short time of medical institutions and quarantine zones.

The total project cost of a specialized hospital in Zangiata district is 504 billion soums. On an area of 33 hectares, 2 complexes are being built. The specific treatment of infectious diseases and the requirements of modern medicine are taken into account.

In particular, all stationary beds are boxed, each room is autonomous with separate ventilation. Each chamber has separate entrance and exit. Upon admission, patients are placed directly in the ward through the gateway. All buildings, departments are connected by sterile and non-sterile corridors.

Clean corridors are used only by doctors to carry out their duties. They pass through sanitary checkpoints. All this ensures the safety of both persons with an unconfirmed diagnosis, as well as doctors and other personnel.

The head of state got acquainted with the conditions created in the hospital. In an interview with responsible persons, the importance of the effective use of the new facility, the stimulation of medical workers, was noted.

- To build such modern hospitals is painful, and even more difficult to use them effectively. Therefore, the lead should not be a doctor, but an experienced organizer. A bonus pay system should be introduced. If they work well, let them earn accordingly,” suggested Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

The hospital has a capacity of 2,000 beds. If necessary, it can be transformed and accommodate up to 4000 patients.

The President carefully examined the reception department, the quarantine zone, laboratory and treatment rooms, and sanitary facilities.

Through video conferencing, a conversation was held with doctors in Karakalpakstan and the regions. Instructions are given on creating an integrated telemedicine system, opportunities for connecting districts to regional hospitals and further to republican medical centers, expanding training and the exchange of experience between medical workers.

In the intensive care unit with 72 beds, each bed is equipped with mechanical ventilation equipment and other medical equipment. The department can be converted for the needs of cardiological, neurological, pediatric care.

Airflows in operating rooms are organized in a unidirectional manner, without the formation of turbulence. Due to this, the air remains sterile.

The head of state talked with medical workers who began activities in the clinic.

- By building new hospitals and developing private medicine, we are creating a competitive environment. Now we need modern doctors and nurses. You must serve our people, working tirelessly on yourself and mastering world achievements, Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.

The laboratory is equipped with the latest equipment in the field of virology, biochemistry and immunology, microbiology and parasitology. So, if polymerase chain reaction devices used elsewhere are able to test an average of 40 analyzes in 5 hours, this technique can test 90 samples in 2 hours.

A presentation on the capacities of regional and republican medical institutions, as well as their interaction, was also held here.

- Many hospitals, diagnostic centers are located separately. The quality of diagnosis and treatment does not meet the requirements. And the money is being spent. In every business there should be a criterion - what benefit our people get from every sum spent by the state, the President emphasized.
