President approves measures to improve pre-school education in 2017-2021

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a resolution “On measures on further improvement of pre-school education system in 2017-2021”.

The document said that in recent years the systematic measures were implemented to improve efficiency of activities of pre-school institutions and strengthening of their material and technical base.

In 2015-2016, some 459 pre-school institutions were repaired and equipped, the resolution said. However, there are actual issues of improving state requirements to educational programme and plans of pre-school institutions. Material and technical base of majority of pre-university schools do not meet modern requirements. Coverage of children with pre-school institutions remains low.

The presidential resolution was adopted to solve existing problems in the sphere.

The resolution approved a complex of measures directed at upbringing intellectually and physically developed children and improving educational plans and programmes of pre-school institutions.

It is planned to improve material and technical base of 2,200 kindergartens, including construct new kindergartens in rural areas and their equipment. It is planned to allocate 2.2 trillion soums to implement these measures.

Realization of these measures will help to improve quality of pre-school education and create 6,100 short-term groups of alternative forms of education, which will prepare children to schools.

Parents of children at the age from 3 to 6, who do not go to kindergartens, will receive methodical manuals.

The measures will help to construct 59 new kindergartens, reconstruct 1,167 kindergartens and repair 983 pre-school institutions.

It is planned to cut kindergarten fees by 30% in rural areas and increase coverage of children with pre-school education by 1.5 times.
