Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 4 November 2020, a presentation of the national competition "Gender Equality Activist" was held, which was organized by the Commission on Ensuring Gender Equality of the Republic of Uzbekistan jointly with the Ministry for Support of Mahalla and Family.
It was attended by representatives of the Commission, ministries and departments, international organizations and journalists.
It was noted that gender equality is a status of equality between women and men, allowing everyone to fully demonstrate their abilities in the political, economic and social spheres. In this regard, the event participants emphasized that ensuring gender equality serves the development of society in all spheres. It was emphasized that the nationwide competition “Gender Equality Activist” serves the same purpose. In addition, the competition is aimed at broad coverage of the work that is being carried out in this direction in our country.
The competition, which is planned to be held in the traditional form, will be attended by ministries, departments, non-governmental organizations and journalists who, at the end of the year, achieved high results in the field of gender equality, came up with initiatives for the development of society, defended the rights of women and performed relevant tasks in their field.
The competition is held in several main nominations, such as “The most active ministries / government departments and organizations in ensuring gender equality”; "The best law enforcement agency protecting women's rights"; “The most active khokimiyat in ensuring gender equality”; “The most active non-governmental non-profit organization in ensuring gender equality”; "The most active entrepreneur in ensuring gender equality."
The winners will also be selected in such additional nominations as "Best TV Program for the Promotion of Gender Equality"; Best Website or Portal on the Internet to Promote Gender Equality; Best Publication for Promoting Gender Equality.
This national competition is held on the basis of such criteria as the social significance of the work carried out by state and non-state organizations in the field of ensuring gender equality, the duration of projects implemented, the presence of a page on gender equality on the official websites of the ministry, organization, department. The winners will be determined in December by an authoritative jury.
