Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The leadership of the Ministry of Preschool Education held a meeting with the Head of the Mercy Corps in Uzbekistan.

At the initiative of the Mercy Corps humanitarian organization, for the first time, a meeting was held between the head of the organization, Elena Burian, and representatives of the Ministry of Preschool Education, headed by Deputy Minister M. Yuldashev.

At the meeting, the parties discussed future projects and initiatives that are planned to be implemented on the territory of Uzbekistan:

- increasing the level of attendance of preschool pupils by providing daily nutritious food in 410 preschool educational institutions;

- improving literacy of preschool children through age-appropriate activities and materials;

- training preschool teachers and strengthening measures to support reading by society and the family;

- improving the infrastructure of preschool educational institutions and the learning environment by repairing food blocks, classrooms and modernizing water supply and sewerage systems

- increasing the level of knowledge of cooks, parents and preschool staff in matters of nutrition, health, hygiene practices and safe methods of preparation and storage of food.

The first regions to implement the initiatives will be the Republic of Karakalpakstan and Surkhandarya region. The project is designed for 5 years, starting from 2021, a number of preschool educational institutions in these regions will implement projects to improve the quality of food and water supply.

Following the meeting, it was decided to prepare the two sides for signing a memorandum of understanding and cooperation.
