Youth Center opens in Samarkand
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) --
An opening ceremony of Youth Center of the branch of the Association “SOS Children’s Village Uzbekistan” in Samarkand was held on 22 November.
Administration of Samarkand region allocated the building for the Youth Center. The 500 square meters building provides convenient conditions for living of young people.
About 20 young people can live in the Youth Center. It will also provide various services to over 40 young people, who need support. The center will provide training, psychological and legal assistance, help to receive education and job.
Currently, two more such centers operate in Tashkent city. Now, some 57 teenagers are receiving various support and aid at the Centers in Tashkent and Samarkand.
The first center was launched in Tashkent city in 2009. The second one, located at Tashkent University of Information Technologies, was opened in 2013.
Since 2009, about 100 young people have graduated the centers. Some 55% of them received jobs, 28% - created families and 17% - study at higher educational institutions.
