Population affected by the Sardoba disaster receive jobs

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Ministry of Employment and Labor Relations is systematically working to ensure employment of the unemployed population in the makhallas of Sardoba, Akaltyn and Mirzaabad districts, affected by the man-made disaster at the Sardoba reservoir.

In each affected mahalla, a headquarters for ensuring employment of the population was created, to which the heads of the city (district) Employment Assistance Centers of Syrdarya region, as well as the Ministry of Employment and Labor Relations of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, the Main Directorates of Employment of the regions and the city of Tashkent were assigned.

The members of the headquarters carried out a courtyard visit to the affected mahallas, identified address lists of people who lost their jobs, as well as returned labor migrants, and as a result of the work carried out, measures were taken to ensure their employment.

As a result of the measures taken, 7,785 unemployed persons were employed; for this purpose, funds totaling 12.9 billion soums were allocated at the expense of the Employment Promotion Fund (6.5 billion soums) and the Public Works Fund (6.4 billion soums), including:

Firstly, 3,897 citizens were involved in public works to clean up and improve the affected makhallas, as well as social infrastructure facilities located on their territory (schools, kindergartens, family polyclinics).

In particular, 1,048 people were involved in construction, reconstruction and repair of 1,870 houses affected by the disaster.

982 unemployed, of whom 324 returned labor migrants, were involved in the construction of 35.6 km of sidewalks in the affected makhallas.

Secondly, in order to rationally use household plots and provide on this basis the employment of their owners at the expense of subsidies from the Employment Promotion Fund of 3.4 billion soums, light greenhouses were built in 805 houses restored after the disaster, irrigation facilities were installed and seeds were purchased and seedlings.

Thirdly, on an area of 168.7 hectares, 8 agricultural cooperatives were created, in which 453 unemployed citizens were involved, they were allocated subsidies for making membership contributions to the statutory funds of cooperatives in the amount of more than 1 billion soums.

For example, in Sardoba district, in the Dustlik makhalla on an area of 15 hectares, a cooperative “Green garden” has been established, in which 50 members of low-income families are involved.

Fourth, in order to train poor and unemployed citizens in modern professions and entrepreneurship skills, a Training Center has been created in Mirzaabad district, where courses in sewing, pastry, hairdressing, computer literacy and car maintenance are organized.

In addition, in order to provide employment for local youth and women, a sewing workshop, a beauty salon, a car repair shop, a library and a shop will be opened in the building of the Center.

Fifth, according to the directions of labor bodies, 600 unemployed women were trained in sewing, 400 million soums were allocated to pay the costs of their training.

Those who have completed vocational training are employed at local textile enterprises (including 100 people at Oksaroy Textile, 200 people at Nafis Liboslar, 150 people at FINBA TEXTIL 150 people at Ahmadjon Textile).
