Plan Approved for Celebrating the 34th Anniversary of Uzbekistan’s Independence
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has signed a resolution outlining preparations for the celebration of the country’s 34th anniversary of state independence. The central theme of the festivities will be held under the slogan: “In the name of the Motherland, in the name of the Nation, in the name of the People!”
The document defines the concept and key directions of the jubilee events. Responsibility for organizing and carrying out the celebrations has been assigned to the Ministry of Culture, the Center for Spirituality, the Writers' Union of Uzbekistan, and the Youth Affairs Agency. Overall coordination of the campaign is entrusted to the Republican Commission, chaired by Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov.
Events will take place across all regions of the country, including rural areas and mahallas. The program includes concerts, creative evenings, film screenings, open dialogues, public festivities, and performances by artists, musicians, bakhshi, maqom singers, athletes, and cultural figures. Nationwide competitions for songs, artworks, and other projects dedicated to the theme of independence are also planned.
The festivities will culminate in a grand event in Tashkent, for which the script will be developed over the coming week.
Traditional competitions and showcases such as “Native Land — Radiant in Color,” “To Live for the Motherland!” and “The Greatest, the Dearest” will also be held. The focus will be on patriotic education, national values, spiritual heritage, and the country's achievements over the years of independence.
Key themes will include the results of the past eight years of reforms, GDP growth to $110 billion, progress in education, healthcare, and sports, the expanding role of youth in society and the economy, regional and infrastructure development, the consolidation of peace and civil harmony, and the rising international standing of Uzbekistan.
Funding for events in the regions will be provided from local budgets and voluntary contributions from individuals and legal entities. In the capital, expenses will be shared between the republican and city budgets. The responsibility for implementing the resolution lies with the Prime Minister and the Presidential Administration.
