The ascent of the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Romania to the top of the Big Chimgan is an important event of public diplomacy.

On 25 August 2021, as part of the ceremony of presenting his credentials, the Romanian Ambassador informed the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, His Excellency Mr. Shavkat Mirziyoyev, about this event.

The ascent was carried out on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the independence of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

At the top of Big Chimgan, the Romanian Ambassador recorded a short video with congratulations (in Romanian and Uzbek) on the Independence Day of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

In the video, the Ambassador of Romania wished the Uzbek people a happy Independence Day.

The development of relations with the Republic of Uzbekistan in political-diplomatic and trade-economic plans is included in the sphere of priority interests of Romania in Central Asia.

The Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation between Romania and the Republic of Uzbekistan (Bucharest, June 6, 1996) provides that bilateral relations are based on friendship, trust, cooperation and mutual respect.

Mr. Daniel Christian Ciobanu is the first Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to successfully climb the summit of Big Chimgan.
